A returning patient came into the office today complaining of chronic neck and back pain.
The patient says he has pain while doing daily activities and points to areas of discomfort. The plan for today is to treat the upper body with deep tissue massage. After warming up the tissue, I work on separating the adhesions with friction to the upper trapezius and rhomboid muscles and releasing several trigger points. Then I use Swedish massage techniques to the low back and finish the treatment with lengthening the neck muscles and releasing the adhered sternocleidomastoid muscles to give my patient better range of motion. My patient felt immediate relief after treatment!
