NATURAL CHIROPRACTIC CARE WITHOUT DRUGS OR SURGERY
What do falling asleep on the couch, getting stuck in traffic, picking up a child, putting away laundry, and lifting something improperly have in common?
These are just a few examples of the numerous ways spinal dysfunction can occur. The problem may begin in a joint along the spine, but can affect other parts of the body by interfering with the nerves branching off from the spinal cord. These nerves are important messengers between the brain and the rest of the body, so if they are disturbed by a joint that is out of place, for example, the result can be discomfort not only locally in the neck or back, but also in the part of the body where the affected nerve travels.
At Cascade Health Center, owner Dr. Garreth MacDonald focuses his chiropractic adjustments on normalizing joint mechanics so that the spine and nervous system as a whole can function without interference. While he prides himself on being “Eugene’s Auto Injury Expert,”™ Dr. MacDonald enjoys treating a variety of health issues. His toolkit for optimizing wellness expands far beyond the chiropractic field, however, as Cascade Health Center is a multidisciplinary clinic with a range of modalities including physical therapy (rehabilitation), massage therapy, and acupuncture.

Dr. Garreth MacDonald
Dr. MacDonald began practicing in Eugene, Oregon, in 2000. He came to the study of chiropractic by way of his undergraduate degree in kinesiology, receiving his Bachelor of Science from the University of Ontario, Canada, in 1992. He then began working in a chiropractic office designing and implementing patient rehabilitation programs. After nine months he was hired onto a larger firm working as a kinesiologist alongside a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, physician, and clinical caseworker. While there, he started his own company for hydrotherapy, providing a less strenuous alternative to land-based exercises by conducting them in water. Wanting to be able to offer more resources to patients, Dr. MacDonald decided to go into the chiropractic profession. He graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1999. Dr. MacDonald moved to Eugene shortly thereafter and opened a practice within the next year.
In his spare time, Dr. MacDonald volunteers for the Eugene Generals Junior A Hockey Club as the Head Athletic Trainer and one of the team’s medical staff. He also enjoys playing hockey himself. He and his beautiful wife Rebecca have five children: Aubrey, Brysen, Lillian, Anwen and Brynlee.
